As we near the conclusion of the Six Elizabethan Songs, Argento abruptly pulls us out of the mourning of the previous movement and drops us into a bright, flirtatious dance. Using text by Henry Constable crafts a sweeping pastoral scene filled with bouncing meter and rapid, playful vocal lines. This piece acts as a nice palate cleanser in the set before the classy ending. Little bit of a workout for the piano though, have to decide how to split all those 3rds & 6ths between your hands! Andre Previn & Barbara Bonney take this movement lickety split, as the kids say, but I chose a more standard tempo (hire me for your recital if you want a different speed!)
